Divorce

Coping financially when enduring a divorce

When faced with a divorce, it can be extremely difficult for both parties, but even more for the children who are involved. As you face the divorce process, you will need to consider what parenting plans you will put into effect. Even though many parents strive to ensure the child has the same lifestyle as before, it can become extremely difficult in this situation. Essentially, there are two households operating on the same income as before, which can lead to hardship for the parties involved.

Before you begin a long and drawn-out divorce battle, try to work out a plan for custody as quickly as possible. Working together to help make the process smoother will help save both parties a lot of hassles and headaches during the court hearing. It is important to maintain civil and prevent putting the child through any more than what they are already undergoing.

Regardless of whether you live in Wisconsin or any other state, the process is essentially the same for divorce proceedings. The better prepared and willing to cooperate both parties are, the easier the process is for everyone involved. Even though you cannot predict what the future holds in store for your financial situation, you can try to develop a plan that will work best for the time being.

Divorces are an extensive process, which is why it is important to have an experienced attorney on your side. When you have someone who is knowledgeable about the matters of the law, you will not have to worry about being taken advantage of during the proceeding. Don’t face divorce alone when there are attorneys available to help walk you through the process.

Child Custody

Seal and Heidi Klum submit custody paperwork

The initial separation between supermodel Heidi Klum and singer Seal started off amicably. However, the recent public arguments between the power couple might mean that things are about to turn nasty for the pair. As the couple discusses child custody for their three children, several variables will determine the outcome of the battle. In addition, Klum has a daughter from a prior relationship who is also involved in the custody battle.

The supermodel asked for primary physical custody in the spring. She requested that Seal have visitation rights. He submitted legal requests to the court that asked for joint physical custody of the children as well.

One of the main concerns for parents during a separation and divorce is child custody issues. Addressing the emotional issues of custody and visitation rights can be stressful for all involved parties. An attorney who understands the tricky dynamics of family law can help mediate acceptable solutions for both parties. Although mediation is usually the first choice in resolving child custody issues, an attorney will take their clients’ cases to court if a judge is needed for settlement.

Attorneys can also address the financial issues that inevitably come up during a divorce, including the division of property, alimony and child support. They should have a solid background in family law so to avoid potential conflicts before they happen. An experienced attorney will strategize with clients and make suggestions in each relevant area. Parents and their children need to be protected as they prepare and plan for the future.

Child Custody

Move-away child custody cases challenge family law judges

When family law judges make rulings regarding child custody and parenting time in Wisconsin, they may make a decision that is based on the child’s best interests. If parents will be residing geographically close to each other, it may be feasible to create a child custody arrangement that allows both parents to take part in the daily life of the child. When one parent has plans to relocate farther away, the decision of the family law judge becomes more difficult to make.

Some of the most common reasons why one parent requests to relocate to a new area relate to a desire to be close to family or job opportunities. When a custodial parent has the desire to relocate, a request must be made to the court, and a family law judge must review the custody arrangement to determine if the move is beneficial for the child.

With distance between one parent and the child, there is an increased likelihood that the parent-child relationship may become strained. The parent may no longer be able to participate in the daily life of the child due to the distance between them. Because of the considerable impact that a ruling on a move-away request may have on the parent and child, the decision of the family law judge must be made with great care. A number of factors must be reviewed, and some of these include the child’s age, the child’s living arrangement preference, the distance that will be created between the parent and child, if the parents can agree to a co-parenting arrangement and other factors.

When a parent is dealing with a move-away situation with a child custody case, the assistance of a family law attorney in Wisconsin may be helpful. The attorney might help the parent to learn more about his or her legal options and to protect parental rights in a court of law.
